(Port) Wine of the month March 2018: Dalva Golden White 1989

The fourth edition of the famous Golden White Ports. Since the astonishing 1952 Dalva’s winemaker José Manuel Sousa Soares takes the best white Colheita from every decade and bottles this as the “Dalva Golden White Colheita”. After 1952, 1963 and 1971 here is 1989, with almost 20 years younger tough to follow the 1971: Dark orange color. Honey and balanced yellow fruit in the bouquet, a hint of acetone in the back. The palate reveals a noticeable acidity and very well integrated peach-, quince- and coffee-aromas with a medium long aftertaste. 17/20
